Paul Rellis, Judge of Innovation Cubed Startup CompetitionPaul Rellis – MD, Microsoft Ireland

Paul Rellis was appointed Managing Director of Microsoft Ireland in December 2007. As MD he is responsible for Microsoft Corporation’s business in both the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland and also represents Microsoft on all strategic policy and communications issues in Ireland.

Prior to being appointed MD, Paul was the Managing Director for Microsoft’s European, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Operations Centre, based in Sandyford, Co. Dublin.  His role included overseeing Microsoft’s channel partners, supply chain, finance and order management across the region.  The EMEA Operations Center services 131 countries across five timezones.  Previously, he held the position of Finance Director for Microsoft Operations in EMEA and Asia-Pacific.

He joined Microsoft in January 2000 from The Coca-Cola Company, where he held a variety of senior positions in Finance, Marketing and Operations in both the Coca-Cola HQ in Atlanta and in Germany.

Paul was President of the American Chamber of Commerce in 2008 and continues to be a board member of the organisation. He is also a member of the Governing Body of IBEC, is a member of the Board of the IMI and of the National Digital Research Centre.

Andrew Collins – CEO,

Currently CEO of the now nationally known independent insurance broker, prior to that Andrew was CEO of After six years at the helm and achieving revenue of €100 per annum, the company was sold to Cendant, a NYSE quoted company. In 2006, Andrew was a finalist in the Ernst & Young Entrepenueur of the year award. He started his career in the early 90s as a management accountant with Mason Technology before moving into sales management with Computer Resources and then the Computer Training Institute. Andrew became Managing Director of Workstations Training in 1998 before selling the business to the ITG group and starting with in 2000.

David McRedmond – CEO, TV3

A native of Dublin, David spent most of his career in the UK and the United States, returning to Ireland in 2000. Prior to his appointment as CEO of TV3, David McRedmond was the Group Commercial Director of eircom plc. With the flotation of eircom in 2004 he was appointed to the plc board.

He was previously a Director of Setanta Sports Holdings Ltd, Chairman of Golden Pages Ltd, and Chairman of eircom Phonewatch Ltd. David McRedmond’s career prior to eircom was in retailing and development businesses in the UK and USA, including such roles as Operations Director of Waterstone’s when the chain grew up become the largest specialist bookseller in Europe; Managing Director of WH Smith Travel Retail (a division he set-up and which is now consistently the strongest performing part of WH Smith’s business); and, in the United States, CEO of WH Smith Inc.

David lives in Dublin with his wife Penny and their three children.

Pat Byrne – HPSU Section Manager Enterprise Ireland

Pat Byrne works with Enterprise Ireland and is responsible for supporting the development of early stage Irish software firms in the Telecommunications, Digital Media and eLearning technologies. He has specific responsibility for supporting those firms who can be classified as “High Potential Start Ups” – companies who have the potential to develop internationally and grow at an accelerated pace due to a combination of technological, managerial or other competitive advantage.

Pat has spent almost twenty years in the field of industrial development.  He joined IDA Ireland as a financial analyst and worked in several roles including spending eleven years based in the United States where he primarily was responsible for attracting U.S. Lifesciences operations to locate operations in Ireland.

Pat has a B. Comm from UCD.  He received a Diploma in Advanced Management UCD Smurfit Graduate School in 2000 and an MBA in 2001 also from the Smurfit School.
